Social Media and Social Activism (poster presentation)

Brief post to share a poster with you.

Last week, I presented a poster at the National Physicians Alliance 6th Annual Meeting (pdf).  My poster discussed uses of social media in social activism, and included a review of how to use Twitter for chats and other conversations.

I am posting it below for your review.  If you have any comments, questions, etc please chime in.

  1. Thanks for the shout out on the poster!

Mark this is a well organized poster with an important message and demonstration on how Tweeter can make a difference. The only additional point I would make is that this sounds like Tweeter as a stand alone tactic. As you presented I think it can especially in advocacy. But I would like to see Tweeter as an important addition to other SM and traditional communications tactics.

    Mark–

I agree that Twitter is only one approach to communication and organization. The size of the poster limited how much I could say/do.

Twitter will have its particular uses, and will reach certain audiences while blogs, FB, etc will reach others. But given that so many are unfamiliar w/ Twitter it seemed like a good starting point.
